Seminar Venue
The seminar venue is Q Station, a contemporary
take of the former North Head Quarantine Station. Originally
occupied by the Garrigal people, North Head was a meeting place
with strong spiritual significance. In the 1830s a quarantine
station was established, which operated until 1984. The site has
been transformed into Q Station, a place for powerful, rejuvenating
experiences to explore the future by connecting the past to the
present.
Chosen originally for its isolation and safe
anchorage options, the site today comprises 65 buildings, several
archeological sites and spectacular vantage points for viewing
Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Harbour National Park. Much of the
landscape contains ancient dune systems that are easily eroded, and
bushland eager to move back into the former cultural landscape.
These factors, together with the obvious cultural and historical
significance of the site, mean that maintaining the former
Quarantine Station is a constant and very expensive exercise. In
view of this, the site is operated as a truly sustainable tourism
operation: 20 per cent of money spent at Q Station is reinvested
directly back into the long term conservation of this very special
site.
Accommodation and Facilities
Q Station's accommodation options all offer
privacy, contemporary comfort and a truly unique setting to
facilitate your complete experience of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Rooms have panoramic views of Sydney's incredible harbour, the
beautiful Sydney Harbour National Park or the historic buildings of
Q Station.
All rooms have ensuites, furnished verandahs
and high speed internet access.
Travel
Q Station is located at North Head Scenic
Drive, Manly NSW. The site is five minutes drive from Manly and 30
minutes drive from the city.
In order to reduce our impact on the site
water transport from Circular Quay to the venue will be arranged
for delegates.
