At the start of 2011, CPSL invited our alumni to identify individuals in all walks of life who exemplify leadership for sustainability. We selected 11 of their suggestions, who are scattered throughout The State of Sustainability Leadership.
The selected leaders illustrate the seven characteristics of sustainability leaders outlined in Polly Courtice's article, 'Breakthrough Leadership'. These qualities are wholly consistent with long-standing perspectives on leadership, yet today's social and environmental challenges define some particular requirements for individuals who can inspire and support action towards a better world.
