A Journey of a Thousand Miles: The State of Sustainability Leadership 2011
"The State of Sustainability Leadership hardly suggests
that progress will be straightforward or satisfactory; yet contributors offer clear notes of optimism if not a recipe for success."
Mike Peirce, Director, Strategy and Communications, CPSL
A Journey of a Thousand Miles: The State of Sustainability Leadership 2011 is CPSL’s new annual survey of the most significant issues, ideas and trends in the field of sustainability leadership.
This inaugural publication presents CPSL's model of leadership for sustainability, built on more than 20 years experience of designing and delivering executive education programmes and convening leaders groups. It also presents profiles of key individuals – eleven to watch in 2011 – identified by our alumni as demonstrating notable leadership over the last 12 months.
Based on the core elements of the CPSL leadership model, The State of Sustainability Leadership includes articles on the context in which leaders are operating today, the characteristics of leaders, and leadership action. Contributions come from leading players in the business community, including Jeff Immelt, GE, from academics such as Professor Melissa Lane of Princeton University, and from thought leaders such as the former Executive Director of Greenpeace International, Paul Gilding. We also profile some of the best of Cambridge’s current research including contributions from the Department of Geography, the Institute for Manufacturing and the Centre for Well-Being.
