Growth and Sustainability: Re-Thinking How, March 2012
The first of two seminars in 2012 of the South African Business and Sustainability Programme was held in the grounds of Spier Hotel & Conference Centre outside Stellenbosch in full summer sunshine. It explored how our current economies and societies have come to be the way they are, the systemic risks we now face and the role of business in shaping viable responses that will take us to a sustainable future.
Over three days and nights senior executives from firms such as Anglo American, Shell, Transnet, Namdeb, Santam, Eskom, Lonmin, Exxaro, Nestlé and ABB discussed with a range of expert contributors the science of climate change, the economics of resource depletion, some of the more inspiring responses of business that are emerging and the nature of leadership in these times.
