The Sustainable Cities Programme provides a forum for companies and key urban decision-makers in the UK and South Africa to share learning and explore new ideas for overcoming barriers in order to shape the growth of cities to address global problems.

City administrations across the world are struggling with a range of interrelated environmental, economic and social challenges. Their leaders and officials need options for dealing with the scale and speed of climate change; energy security; pollution and environmental degradation; the recession and a variety of growing social pressures.

What is the role of business in the transformation to sustainable urban systems? What drivers and policy levers are necessary?

The programme was launched with a roundtable hosted by Arup and has since held a workshop on Sustainable Mobility (hosted by Shell).

Sustainability Leadership in the Built Environment Programme

The Sustainable Cities Programme is informed by the Sustainability Leadership in the Built Environment Programme. This new executive education programme is designed and delivered by CPSL in collaboration with the UK Green Building Council (UK GBC).
