The PSSI Principles, launched in 2010, represented the members’ collective commitment to take action in support of sustainability on an ongoing basis. The Principles were reinforced by the actions of each of the group’s members, and by a collaborative action-oriented work programme to tackle priority issues for each of the Principles.
The group commissioned a guide from the University of Cambridge on the reduction of GHG emissions from internal air travel. Measuring, managing and reducing GHG emissions from internal air travel builds on the practical experiences of the PSSI firms, offers suggestions on how to identify and collect the data needed, and how best to convert those data into a carbon footprint and develop strategies to reduce GHG emissions.
The Initiative was formed by a cross-section of professional services firms in the UK who believe there is an urgent need to develop new and longer-term policies and approaches for tackling sustainability challenges.
