As a Cambridge University department, CPSL's base is in the city of Cambridge. The office is located on the corner of Lensfield Road and Trumpington Street, opposite the Royal Cambridge Hotel, close to the Botanical Gardens, the Departments of Engineering and Architecture, and the world-renowned Fitzwilliam Museum. We are about ten minutes' walk from the city centre and the bus station on Drummer Street, and fifteen minutes' walk from the railway station. If you are travelling by car, please note that car parking facilities are limited, and you should check prior to your arrival that a space will be available for you. Open a Google map of our Cambridge office. General tourist information for the city of Cambridge may also be of interest to you. If you are planning to stay overnight, information on hotels is available, together with details of how to locate them.
CPSL actively promotes sustainable travel wherever possible and supports the use of public transport. It is CPSL policy to encourage visitors to minimise their use of private cars on journeys taken for CPSL business. For journeys to work, staff are encouraged to use public transport where possible and, if using a private car, to investigate the possibility of organising a car-share with any colleagues using the same route. Visitors to CPSL are encouraged to do the same. There is no formal parking facility for staff at 1 Trumpington Street although some limited pre booked parking is available for the use of visitors.
There are frequent trains to and from London (King's Cross and Liverpool Street) and good cross-country links. CPSL is fifteen minutes' walk from the railway station, or a short taxi ride. To walk from the railway station, go down Station Road and turn right at the War Memorial into Hills Road. Turn left at the traffic lights outside the (large) Catholic Church into Lensfield Road. We are at the far end of Lensfield Road on the right, with our entrance around the corner on Trumpington Street.
Leave the M11 at junction 11 and drive towards Cambridge on the A1309 (continuation of A10). Go through the village of Trumpington and straight on at the traffic lights at the junctions with Long Road and Brooklands Avenue. Proceed over the two mini-roundabouts into Trumpington Street, where CPSL is located immediately on your right.
It is not usually possible to park at CPSL. View maps of Cambridge showing city centre parking and park and ride sites.
The A14 merges into the M11 in both directions. Stay on the M11 until junction 12 where you should leave to join the A603 into Cambridge. Follow the signs to the city centre along Barton Road, following the sharp bend to the left into Newnham Road, then turn right at the roundabout into Fen Causeway. Turn left at the first mini-roundabout and straight over at the second into Trumpington Street. CPSL is located immediately on your right.
National Express run regular coach services from London Victoria and other destinations to the Cambridge Bus Station on Drummer Street. There are also regular coach services to London airports.
